PA FISHING LICENSES
NON RESIDENT
Pennsylvania
started issuing non resident fishing licenses in 1919. However,
no collector has seen a 1919. There is only one issued 1920 non
resident license known and it resides in this collection. Another
collector has several unissued 1920 variations in his collection.
They are just awesome. I know of no 1921, 1922, 1923, and 1924
licenses. There is one 1925 non resident license known and is
also in this collection. In 1926, the license was switched to
a button. 1926 licenses are rare and valuable. This collection
has the only 1926 non resident fishing license with the accompanying
paperwork. These licenses were issued in button format until 1959.
The 1936 is a rare license to find. Just over 2,000 of these licenses
were sold. How many could have survived?
Non
resident licenses are much more difficult to find than resident
licenses as far fewer were issued. In 1960, the licenses were
made of paper. This continued until 1973. Buttons were used for
the 1974 and 1975 licenses. In 1976 they returned to the paper
license. This is the same style still used today. Once again,
buyer beware. I have seen many reproductions of the non resident
licenses. While it is almost impossible to value the 1919 to 1925
licenses, I will give it a shot. $1000 +. I have seen the 1926
sell for $2500 - $3000. The rest of the 1920s are valued at $125
- $500. The 1930s sell for $125 - $300 except the 1936 will sell
for $1,000 +. The 1940s will average around $ 75 150. The
1950s will bring $40 100. The 1974 and 1975 sell for $3
- $5. The paper licenses, which lack collector interest, are $1
- $3.
